Air Conditioning Installation
Whether you choose to do it yourself or hire professionals, air conditioning installation is hardly a walk in the park. There are numerous aspects of the installation process that can go wrong and endanger you or your home. Before going ahead with installation, it's important to watch for the things that may not go according to plan, some of which we'll outline below! The Unit Is The Wrong Size One of the biggest issues with air conditioning installation that usually arises is that the wrong sized unit is purchased. If a unit, for example, is too small for the square footage of your home, it won't be able to cool your property and will easily overheat or break down. On the other hand, you may end up choosing a unit that's too big which can also be an issue as there won't be proper dehumidification and the AC unit will wear out quickly then an air conditioning repairs need to be done. The Installation Wires Are Exposed In order for your unit to function properly, electrical wiring is necessary. Unfortunately, if the wiring is sloppy or not done correctly, it can put you and your home in danger. Many homes burn down each year due to inefficient wiring techniques, so if you would like to ensure that your home is not among those affected, check for exposed wiring. The Suction Line Has No Insulation The suction line is connected to the refrigerant in your unit and will require proper insulation. A lack of insulation can cause problems in terms of efficiency and will impact the longevity of your unit. Your unit may end up working overtime in order to cool your home! The Exhaust Is Poorly Installed If installing a full HVAC unit, make sure that the exhaust is properly installed. If not, the burning fuel from the unit can leak into your home and not only impact air quality, but it can become combustible. The right exhaust system that has been carefully installed can expel the fuel properly without harming you or your property. The Ductwork Is Installed Incorrectly Air conditioning from a central system will need the proper ductwork in order to function and cool your home. If your ductwork has gaps, cracks or it's simply not installed right, it can create a number of problems for your air conditioning unit. Of course, the most important issue with poor ductwork is that your unit won't be able to efficiently pump the cool air into your home, meaning the unit can malfunction and your energy bills may skyrocket. As you can see, installing air conditioning is not an easy task. It should be left up to the professionals, but even then, you should make it a point to check their work. If any of the problems mentioned above arise, get help from a different expert and have it addressed immediately! Whenever you deal with anything that runs on electricity and requires fuel, it can become dangerous if safety precautions aren't taken. |
